About Life Beyond the Gradebook
Life Beyond the Gradebook was created by a Licensed K-12 Teacher in 2014, and it has since grown into a thriving community of educators who love low-prep, standard-aligned resources. This website was created in 2023 with the goal of bringing together thousands of upper elementary teachers to share lesson plans, resources, and ideas!
Lifebeyondthegradebook.com exists because of the constant changes in both state and national standards and the initiatives that are taxing teacher time, leaving little to no room for lesson planning and prep.
Our mission is to keep your lessons up-to-date with the most recent Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards while providing simple ideas and strategies that you can use with little to no prep time.
Let's face it. Textbooks go out of date before we ever open them. No school purchases new textbooks and materials every year, which means none of the content in those outdated materials aligns with the new CCSS (Common Core State Standards) or NGSS (Next Generation Science Standard) requirements. This website is devoted to supporting Teachers across the U.S. and even around the world.
The Upper Elementary Teacher Community is available to all site visitors. Membership includes new lessons delivered to you every month, which incorporate the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Members also receive a private community, members-only resource library, and much more!
